It seems that mail sent in the past day to offices on Capitol Hill makes reference to the bomb blast at the Armed Forces recruiting station in Times Square this morning.
Update: Investigators now believe that the letters received at Capitol Hill offices were only a strange coincidence and were not related to the bombing on Thursday morning.
Contained in the mailpieces was a ten-page political manifesto that decries the war in Iraq. Also included was a holiday card containing a photograph of a man in front of the recruitment center inscribed with the words “Happy New Year, We Did It.”
The NYPD and federal law enforcement officials continue to concentrate on surveillance images showing a person on a bicycle near the recruitment center close to the time of the explosion. The biker dismounted at 3:38 A.M, placing the bicycle against side of the building, and is then seen walking to the front. After pedaling off at 3:39 A.M., the small explosive device detonated and blew out windows and a portion of a door on the kiosk.
