Flushing Classical

22 April 2008

The residential Victoria Tower in downtown Flushing has been under construction for a while now. A recent visit finds that it’s got all of its glass now, as well as its iconic entrance on Sanford Avenue that is a unique blend of “classical” and modern. Yowza!

Unique is a very generous way to describe this ugly mish-mash. A real eyesore is about to be foisted on the town.

The project seemed to be at a standstill for the last few months. I heard Victoria Towers have been cited for violation for building taller than it’s supposed to and management is in the process of sorting things out in court. Any truths to that? If so, I pity those who have put money down for a unit.

I heard that this condo still hasn’t released for sale due to bad economy.

The tower is developed by the husband of a former Hongkong actress. The value for the 99 units altogether is estimated more than 1 billion dollars.
