In a completely surprise move (not!) the Uniformed Firefighters Association has announced it will now open negotiations to try and win the same type of wage increases that the NYPD just received in a recent Public Employment Relations Board decision.

The UFA will halt negotiations for their current contract, which is up in August of this year, and reopen previous discussions about the 2004-2006 version in the same way that the NYPD did.

Firefighters’ union president Stephen J. Cassidy told the Advance:

“We want to get back to being on par with the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association.”

Ladies and gentlemen, next stop: collective bargaining free-for-all…please stand clear of the widening budget gaps.
